Molecular Magnetic Materials Laboratory (M3) at Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), Thailand invites applications for a position as master or PhD student in Chemistry Program. This enrolment is for the 2023 academic year.
M3 is one of the Quantum Technology Research Initiative Collaboration (QTRIC) laboratories at the Institute of Science, SUT. We are leaders in the field of Fe(III) spin crossover materials. Our research is focus on switchable materials for quantum computing and sensors. You can join our group in the research in areas of
Discovery of new molecular magnetic materials: design of spin crossover and single molecule magnets for molecular electronics.
Molecular junction fabrications: exploring new approaches to molecular devices for future technologies.
Electrochemical sensors for environmental and medical applications.
You will work in a highly collaborative atmosphere with theorists and experimental scientists in Thailand and around the world. You will be able to develop new skills set under the supervision of an expert team. Through studies in our program, you will gain technical skills in a range of spectroscopies, X-ray crystallography, electrochemistry, magnetic studies, nanoelectronic device fabrication, and DFT calculations. We encourage our students to develop their ability to research, design, assess, implement and review solutions to real-life problems across a range of chemical materials.
Master of Science in Chemistry Programme
Our MSc programme offers two types of study plans, Type A1 (research only) and Type A2 (research with coursework). At the MSc level, students in our group are encouraged to enrol in the Type A2 plan. The students will have to select a minimum of one full module and some of the courses from other modules which are related to their research topic as shown in the figure below. Note that a wider range of interdisciplinary courses are also available.
The Type A2 course prepares students to become independent, ethical and responsible chemistry professionals with a global appeal. Our courses are taught by expert academics, through formal lecturing and student-led course works. Our students will have access to world-leading knowledge and infrastructure by working on real research projects as part of established research groups. Students are expected to make a genuine contribution to these projects, and to produce original research of a standard sufficient for good quality peer reviewed publications.
